Hi Folks,

I trust everyone is enjoying their Holiday Break.  A few safety pointers

Drunk Drivers – I’m sure I don’t have to remind you to be careful on the roads as there are many Party Goers afoot and many are having a drink or two, or too many.  Be alert and watch-out for any radical swervation with vehicles ahead of you.  Also, check your rear view mirror frequently, especially when approaching a Stop Sign or Red Light, to make sure the drivers behind you are, indeed, also coming to a full stop.   Tragically rear-end collisions are not infrequent this time of year due to slippery weather or too many cocktails.

Blinding Setting Sun – Another caution when driving in a westerly direction around the time of sunset and a little before.  The Winter Solstice was yesterday – 12.21.12.  This time of year the sun sets at a most inconvenient time for drivers – right around Rush Hour when traffic is heaviest.  Anyone heading in a westerly direction is literally blinded, especially if their windshield is a little dirty.  This alert also applies if you are heading into an intersection and have to look westward for on-coming traffic and your side windows are dirty.  Clean your windows and look carefully.  Use your hand as a Black Flag to keep sunbeams off you eye lenses – just like a Camera Grip would do to keep a Back Light from causing a flare in the camera lens.
