Socialism collapsed because it did not allow the prices to tell the economic truth. Capitalism may collapse because it does not allow prices to tell the ecological truth."

MISSION & OVERVIEW

What is climate and what is happening to ours?

In response, Global Possibilities was formed as an environmental non-profit organization dedicated to promoting solutions to our ecological/climate and energy crisis through education, new media and the arts.

As a national renewable energy advocate, Global Possibilities promotes the use of solar and renewable energy to reduce our dependency on fossil fuels – coal, oil and gas, through documentary film, national conferences, educational initiatives and public outreach in collaboration with architectural institutions, non-profits, energy experts, business leaders and government. These partnerships were designed to ultimately build pubic awareness and understanding of the benefits of solar energy and green sustainable design as it relates to the humanly built environment (architecture) and our overall quality of life.

Although this generation has heard countless warnings about the environmental, political, and economic threats of our national dependency on energy fueled by fossil fuels – coal, oil and natural gas, we continue to use these limited resources at an unprecedented rate. While our government is slowly taking steps towards the reduction of carbon emissions, the public also has not yet embraced energy alternatives such as solar photovoltaics. We have the power to change and The Time Is Now!  We are at a point in history when we need to move at wartime speed.  Nature is our timekeeper and her clock is ticking.  So where do we begin?

If we take a stand – as individuals, as states and nations – if we curb our restless consumption of dwindling resources, if we transform ourselves to a way of life that conserves and sustains the Earth – if life becomes sustainable – then our children and grandchildren will be proud of the legacy we leave them.  The question is how will we respond?  The Earth will never look this way again.

For the first time in human history “more” is no longer “better”.  Our drive to expand without planning for the future has been a great failure.  Growth for growth’s sake is the philosophy of a cancer cell.

Current building practices alone use 2/3 of the electricity consumed in the U.S. which causes 35% of the carbon dioxide producing global climate change. We can have the greatest impact in the shortest time and for the least amount of money in mitigating climate change, if we begin with the buildings we inhabit.

The sun is a free and constant source of energy.  In one second the sun produces enough energy to supply the world for one thousand years.  Yet it remains virtually untapped. Increased knowledge of solar energy will lead to its increased use ultimately leading to a competitive energy market and a cleaner, healthier environment for our children and grandchildren.  The challenge is to disseminate this valuable information quickly and to counteract the endless promotion of our national addiction to fossil fuels.

I invite all who can to participate in the solutions rather than the problem.
